So, the suggested tire pressure on my Ram 1500 (2020) is 36 psi.

Is there any reason or suggestions for changing this when I tow? I tow a travel trailer with a WDH, weight around 5000-5500 lbs.

Do you have P-Metric or LT Rated tires currently on your truck?

Perhaps 40psi cold checked and adjusted would work well as a baseline pressure whilst towing.

They are Goodyear Wrangler Fortitude HT tires. Says max PSI of 51. I was towing last month at 60-65 mph on the interstate and at times, even in a light wind, it felt a little "wobbly" so was wondering if maybe the 500-750 extra pounds on the hitch was causing this due to the psi only being at 36. Or maybe I need to readjust the height of the hitch so that more weight is transferred up to the front tires through the WDH?

When I tow I pump up the pressure. To figure out what pressure works best, do a water test or chalk test. You don't want squatty tires, nor over inflated tires. If I tow heavy I go to max psi on the sidewall. If in the middle I up them 8 to 10 psi. If light then I leave them at what ever they are set to. Chalk Test

I would verify that your WDH is adjusted according to the manufactures spec. Increased tire pressure sacrifice’s ride quality.

Unless you are running super low pressure with really heavy weights, feeling wobbly is going to be a suspension or trailer set up issue. When I'm pulling 14K I will air up my tires from my usual 38 to 45 or so, if I was pulling on the highway all day maybe go to 50, but that's pulling really heavy. The majority of my towing I don't mess with pressures, not really that big of a deal.

I pump the tires on mine up to max when towing my camper. It feels much nicer. If the tire says it has a max pressure, it can be run safely at that pressure. If you get Lt tires, you don’t need to run 80 psi on a half , but max pressure on the stock tires will help a lot if you have a good load.
