Hi All,

I need a little help. Let me begin by saying this is my first truck and that I am a rookie at anything truck related. I purchased a new 2019 RAM Limited. The tires that came with the truck are: 275/55/20. I want to replace them with 285/60/20 but I am not interested in any type of LIFT , etc all I want to do is replace the old tires with the new IF POSSIBLE 285/60/20.

Is that possible without any lift on the truck?

Does anyone have a picture of a truck with 285/60/20 size tires and no lift? Also have you experienced any rubbing with this tire size?

Any help/guidance will be much appreciated.

Thank you all.

What’s the diameter difference?
What are you doing with the truck? Your speedo will be off unless you get it recalculated.

Thank you Carsh68 for the diameter difference info.. Do you know if the 285/60/20 would work?

I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. The previous generation trucks have 275/60/20 so the 285 is just a little wider and taller. You could get a programmer and fix your speedo.

You're only talking a difference of +10 mm in width (less than half an inch) and +29.5 mm (about 1-1/2") in diameter. Go measure the clearance around your stock tires - there's at least 2-1/2 to 3" of clearance on all sides. Add 3/4" to each side and you'll see.
If you don't get it re-calibrated, the speedometer readout will be about 5% higher than your actual speed (if it says 60 mph, you're really going about 57 mph).
Here's a good website that will help explain: www.willtheyfit.com/

I just got 275/70R18 put on my 2020 Limited and no issues. Here is a picture in the "entry" air ride mode

Thanks for sharing the pic Utah Biker. What is ‘entry’ air mode means?

For the Ram trucks that have an Air Ride suspension, Entry Mode is the lowest suspension setting. There are 4 more settings that raise the truck higher than what you see in my picture. My tires clear everything in entry mode w/o any rub.

Do you think I can fit 285/65/20 without issues? No lift.
This is my first time sizing tires to a truck. I used my dealer's recommendation about what could fit vs my own experience. But with that said... I think a 285/65/20 is 1.5" taller than my tires and it would be cutting it too close for my comfort. I believe my tires are already near the limit of what my stock clearance can handle. I haven't even tried them off road yet so there is still a chance I get some rubbing.

At least do a 2" front leveling kit. That will give you some room.

If I add a set of Ram Rebel wheels (fresh take-offs) to my Bighorn will I need a 2" front leveling kit? With the rake removed, I assume the truck will squat when loaded with cargo in the bed.

Does the Rebel have this same 2" spacer or is the suspension much different?
