Hey michael harpe, would you have some more pics of your PW you could post? I want to put 37's on my '17 2500 and I'm old school. Tall, but not real wide tires get it done for me. Thanks in advance. RR.

Check my signature link for the build page. Let me know if you need anything more specific and I’ll take custom shots.

I only get the offset i need to run 35's or 37's and not to rub the UCA's and i really don't want to have the wheels tucked in towards the inside like stock or sticking out 4" either :) I have -12 offset on 17x9 wheels. I don't like wheel spacers and my tires don't stick out just for looks, i like how they function and again i'm able to run 35's or 37's on the same setup i have. Tires stick out 1.5" past the fenders.

At least you only received a parking ticket on the day of the third photo and not one for an equipment violation as well. :D

And again some do them for much more than just decoration. Some people have to get a poke using spacers to move the wheels away from the UCA's and i'd rather not use spacers. -12 offset is perfect for 17x9 wheels and 35 or 37's :). Take all the guess away from where things rub in important locations, and a little wider track is never a bad thing for handling.

315/70/17 with -12 offset, this is with the tire at the absolute max droop

A very dirty road salt 2500 with stock rims and 35x12.5 18. Even with oem flares and added gatorback flares. I hate below freezing temps. Week and a half in below 32 and about 2 more weeks to go. Crying.

Ok I don't hate on that. Looks real good. I want a set of flaps like yours. Wide and low to catch crap. Sad to see how much salt water still makes it on even with them. I hear you on wash though. I did like 2 weeks ago. We were right at 33 and it was coming straight home to an insulated barn and wouldn't be needed for a few days

Thanks farmallboy. Unfortunately I ran out of good weather and covid sacked me before I could get the front flaps put on. Have to wait till spring before I can get back to it. Lol

Those flaps and mounts are stupidly expensive. They are what I was looking for and couldn't find anything comparable.

Take it from one CrewCab 8' Bed guy to another...that's a LOT of sheet metal to wash.
After 59 yrs in North Jersey, I have had my fill of salt. I DO NOT miss it!
Amazing the survivor vehicles I see in N.E. TN. Up North, they're all gone. Turned to rust.

I always assumed that when the wheels stuck out way past the fenders that the owner just couldn't afford the correct wheels and had picked up some used ones that did not fit correctly. We live on the wet coast so a truck gets pretty dirty real quick if they stick out.

In Minnesota, the tires are supposed to be covered to prevent the vehicle from throwing mud, stones, etc.
This is probably not met in it's entirety in many cases but the intent is to control the stuff being thrown from the tires onto other vehicles.

The law is:

Minnesota law states: "Every passenger automobile shall have fenders, or other devices, that are designed to prevent, as far as practicable, water, dirt, or other material being thrown up and to the rear by the wheels of the vehicle." So every vehicle must have fenders. In reference to wheels sticking out, if the wheels go out beyond the outside of the vehicle, then they would not be in compliance with the law. If someone was to have wider wheels on their vehicle that stick out past the fender, they would need some type of fender flare added on.

Wow. Looks like a lot of people who frequent the forum are "even" folks, myself included. I wonder if we're more straight-laced people in general who go above/beyond to take proper care of our trucks, thus seeing the functional silliness of pushed-out tires. Some interesting psychology there!

Only reason I would go with pushed out tires would maybe be my jeep. But not my trucks.

Might want to check your local/state laws too. I have had friends that ran their tires wider than their flares. Most of them got tickets for it.

Good advice. Any rocks thrown from your truck's tires can damage other vehicles and YOU are responsible for the damage. In some jurisdictions it is considered a traffic accident (by definition) and YOU will be listed as the person who caused the accident that resulted in damage to another vehicle. That goes on your driving record AND your insurance company will know about it.

Besides looking stupid, tires that stick out past the flares will throw debris that will damage YOUR truck. Keep the tires inside the flares and it will look much better, IMO. And make sure you have mudflaps that will keep rocks from being thrown at other vehicles. If not you might be the victim of well deserved road rage.

Depending on where you live, you could run into trouble with your State's Vehicle Code. Where I live, your tires cannot extend past the fender so as to allow an excessive about water or debris to be thrown up outside the wheel well.

Who hasn't had a cracked windshield?

If being altruistic isn't enough for you, I would think all that FOD being thrown up would be hard on the side panel paint and hood of your truck.

I'm a simple man - keep it even. My wheels stick out past the fender and I'm ordering the BW Pockets for mine. I'm NOT a fan of all the chit that gets thrown up from the tires.

Nice blacked out Ram there Salty Ram. You can get the fake flare bolts in a black stainless so they don't stand out.

My tires stick out a little but it looks good. I think it depends on what size of tire. It could look like a go cart with rubber band tires on their truck.
