Looking for input. My front tires are wearing much more on the outside than inside. Dealership said just needed a rotation. Had a buddy tell me that these trucks wear like that because of the extra weight in the front and turning. I’m not so sure. Anyone else experiencing this? Stock tires with 23,000 miles on them. No lifts, leveling kits, etc. - all stock. Pick from outside of tire.

I’d start with a 4 wheel alignment. My tires don’t wear like that.

First off it is not normal so your buddy is wrong. I'm on my second set of tires on my 2500 and have never had them wear like that (I ditched the factory tires right away) Second those stock Firestone's are crap tires.

Most likely an alignment issue. Rotate and balance is also important to keep up with but I would start with an alignment. I would also do it to the Thuren specs, not the factory (you can google that)

My diesel Rams always wore the rear tires faster. But uniformly.

Could be a toe in error. But if they’ve never been rotated since day 1 I think the dealer is right. Are they still in the original positions?

I learned early on you must rotate tires religiously at every oil change on these trucks. Even if they don't "look" like they need rotated. Rear tires go directly forward to front and front cross to rear. Helps even out cupping and other unsavory wear patterns. I've actually had to convince the dealer to rotate for me because they said it didn't need it!

They’ve been rotated once every ten thousand miles

2500 6.4L Hemi 4.10's 'Off-Road'
Mine have 16,000 on them and are worn evenly. My son has about 55,000 on his 2018. He put KO2's on at 12,000 and they are still holding up good. He gets them rotated regularly and had an alignment done when they put them on. His alignment was off prior to that. Ours are both 6.4's so the Cummins will have more weight on the front end so that might make a little difference but agreed, you need an alignment
