Alright, I've had my new Ram 1500 for exactly one week and am getting a LineX bedliner sprayed in this Friday after soliciting advice from everyone here.

My next addition will be a tonneau cover... I know there are other threads around here with people discussing brands, but as far as I can tell you can't really go wrong with any of them it seems. Lots of people mentioning Truxedo, Extang, Bak, etc.

My question is this: do you prefer soft, hard, tri-fold, roll-up, etc. and why?

Obviously the soft covers are significantly cheaper than the hard ones, but I am looking for something that will last for years. A $300 soft roll-up cover that needs to be replaced in 3 years is a worse investment than a $1,000 hard tri-fold that will be good for the lifetime of my truck. I want something 100% waterproof and I am also a little concerned with a soft cover flopping around in the wind and being noisy when driving at high speeds.

Thanks in advance for the feedback!

We got a Retrax on our new Cummings, but you do loose a little room
with it, we put at BakFlip Mx4 on our Rebel to have more bed use.

We like both, we had the Retrax on our 06 Chev LBZ and *** zero issues
with it.

Look on Amazon - I got a soft tri-fold for $200 - works great. Use Formula 403 on it and it should last for years. It has an automotive seal that keeps it snug against all four sides.

I had a soft cover. Tri-fold. Looked great for a week. One trip on the highway it was stretched and sagged. Hated it after that.

My buddy had a hard cover, flush mounted. Can't even see it from the side. Love it. More expensive, but worth it after time. You're not gonna throw it away.. haha

I put the the american roll cover on mine, love it,I'm in construction so I can leave tools in the bed,go into hardware stores etc without having to pile tools into the cab,it's waterproof
and retracts into a tiny box 8" by 8" box.I have full use of bed for hauling etc either.
Non retractable cover would not work for me.Other dodge truck I have a tool box on it.I will never have a tool box again.

I also put a Backflip on my truck, it's the one that looks like a vinyl cover but it's hard. Have had it for 2 years and it works perfect, looks good and gives good security.
