Guys looking to get a truck box off local craig's list, as i cant justify spending 200+ on a brand new one for the little amount of stuff i actually need to keep in it, but i defiantly need one. Anyway I can't find any local that are black and i want black so tossing around the idea of a chrome one and then painting it with bed liner from home depot, i know it doesn't hold up great but it will be good enough when it will save me 100+. Any idea though on how much weight this may add to the box? Thanks guys

I have no idea actually, shouldnt add too much I would imagine. I bought the truckbox that was on my S10 off craigslist for $40...diamond plate aluminum with the keys. Changed the locks though.

My dad painted his box black (granted not with bed liner stuff) and it faded pretty quickly and now looks like ass. I think the bed liner stuff from Home Depot will probably end up fading on you too eventually. Just something to think about.

Why not call your local spray shop, see what they would charge, ask them roughly how much weight it would add, and this way you'd have some sorta warranty.

I had a buddy get his bed lined and threw the guy an extra $20 to spray his toolbox

How long has it been since you had the bed sprayed? If it hasn't been to long or you know the guy, he might cut ya a deal

i used roll on bed liner on my tool box. been on there for about a year and a half. still looks great. (other than all the drywall and paint ive gotten on it)
