Here we thought Toyota would never make an EV, but low & behold the did, with plans to launch many more, despite USA discontinuing tax subsidies.

Reading about it, they watched the EV market for 20 years while selling their Prius Hybrid, and decided the time is right - in the face of declining sales of other EV's - to introduce an EV people wanted instead of the unreliable technoglitz of Tesla. Toyota new BZ has range over 300 miles (ideal conditions, I suppose), and simple, robust features with emphasis on reliability. I don't have any personal interest in Toyota, have never owned one, but I found their timing and direction interesting. The pricing is right, too.

IMHO the BZ-4 or whatever they call it rides like cr ap, its worse than riding an old 1950's pickup with no shocks, the wife and I both had the unpleasant experience of riding in one back in Jan 2025 when looking for a new Rav 4 for the wife, after that ride I can see why they offer free battery charging at Toyota dealerships, I mean ya have to offer a buyer something to make up for poor ride quality when going over bumps in the road...

They spent years developing the thing and didn't get the chassis right for the heavy batteries?! OMG

Thanks for posting. You'd think Edmund's would have slammed it by now.

I forgot that the seat padding was lacking as is I had better seats in 1971 Ford Pinto along with what the wife called a frugly dash.

Toyota made a (relatively small) bet on hydrogen and it was a failure so complete that most of the country (and world) doesn't know they tried. They can't do worse with an EV investment.

When I was looking at a 4runner a few years ago (the last body style before this new ugly one) many of their smaller brands could only be had in a Hybrid at least that is what the salesman told me. I was not surprised to see them jump on the EV wagon at all. The BZ is one of the uglier EV's out there so it would be interesting to see how many people actually buy them.
