When I lived in Laramie there was an old guy that came into town sometimes in bad weather in an old VW bus pulled by 2 horses. He had a radio and a heater in there and cut a hole in the front of it for the reins to go through. He mostly used the rig in bad weather like heavy snow.

Lexus cars are notorious for pirate voltage. They can probably get by with being driven once a week or a little less, but it runs down the batteries over time.

My other half, Shawn( incidentally my WIFE) just decided out of the blue to trade her Jeep Renegade for. Kia Niro Hybrid. Love it. Best of both worlds. 1.6L engine with regen for electric motor/battery. No plug in required! Depending on skill level ( not me ) you can travel nearly exclusively in electric or hybrid mod. Highly recommend!

How much of a insurance price increase did you get hit with, we looked at Kia once, I called to see how much the auto insurance would cost, needles to say it was almost double what we paid for her Toyota due to the ease of it being stolen or so we were told...

Yeah. I heard that they were at risk. Apparently 24/25 models are not as susceptible to it. Kia and Hyundai were being sued last I read.
We have Progressive Insurance. It went up $25ish a month. That’s replacing a 2021 Renegade with this Niro EX model hybrid.
Hope this helps!

I'm actually gen z. I'll admit that I know literally nothing about computers, but have always loved wrenching on small engines and old cars. Yeah, there's a few of us dumb kids who do computer stuff, but most of us would rather own and repair older cars

2 questions, how far do you go in those winter conditions? How many charging stations are available. In the USA in places that regularly see -40C there are Not many places to charge unless your daily commute is less then 25 miles from one of those charging stations, or you have the level 2 or better home charging, you will not have adequate charging. the battery has to supply heat for itself, for you, and motivation power that cuts your range in half or less I have looked at that a lot because I grew up in North Dakota and along the northern border those little towns any EV even the best just isn't a viable winter car. So that means you need a summer and winter car, granted many do have that already with a 4x4 suv or truck as the winter vehicle.

I drove the BEV Charger and I liked it. Would be a nice 3rd or 4th car in the motorpool for sure. Once they go for $20K I'll consider getting one...

we don't go very far in the winter.if we do have to go,we take the ram.it's built for winter driving.as for charging stations, there is a station about every 150 kilometers at the most, all the way up towards the Yukon. in b.c there is a charging station at every tourist info station, which are in virtually every town.and there are stand alone stations all over the province.the gov has pushed hard to accomodate ev's here.we've never had an issue with finding a charging station and have 3 chargers built into our garage at home.it gets driven more than the ram.it's a great daily commuter.if we need to run in to town we take the tesla,no matter the season.

These Chargers are going to be like German luxury cars. The cheaper they get to purchase, the more expensive they'll get to own.

Seriously, reliability is garbage tier even for Stellantis. Like the engineers were tasked with making the Hornet look good in comparison and took the challenge to heart.

Yeah, I have no clue about long-term BEV ownership. I'm just positively surprised how good it drives, I liked it.
Design wise, I always liked the exterior. Interior is nice too, but I can't stand the two screens.

The Hornet..... give it the Hurricane I4, lower it 4 inches, make it a SRT4 and it will sell like hot cake.
I like the interior and it's really more spacious than it lets you assume from the outside.

With all that being said, I'd rather have another Hemi Durango :happy160:

It's not even long term concerns, they are junk off the lot. Even the test mule drivers called them garbage the time we got to speak with them candidly. They are rolling electrical glitch machines, and not just the drivetrain but things as simple as the trunk release.

that's why we own a tesla and not a stellantis ev.we get it,you don't like electric vehicles.doesn't make the rest of us wrong.nobody is putting a gun to your head and making you buy one.even if they were mandated tomorrow there will still be ice vehicles around for decades to come,so quit your crying.

What are you on about? We're *specifically* discussing the Charger in that exchange. Find where I said I didn't like EVs or "cried" about anyone buying them and I'll buy you a beer.

He got mad I bashed a Stellantis EV while immediately saying he bought a Tesla and not a Stellantis EV. Like he angrily agreed with me?

Most likely explanation:

Our last 2 cars have been Hyundai hybrids, first a Sonata, now a Tucson. Hybrids have made a lot of sense for us and we haven't had any issues with either. I'm a little concerned that the Tucson has a DI engine, but we'll see how that works out. It's a '22 and so far so good. No plans for a plug in hybrid or an EV, though I don't have any issues with them. The infrastructure just isn't there yet (and may never be) for me to switch.

So you have a problem with Day Drinkers??? You do understand that some people work nights.

How about a little tolerance for those of us that are forced to drink in the daylight hours. There are damn few of them this time of year in my latitude.

This is a joke ;)- sometimes it's hard to tell.

We replaced my Wife's 2018 Kia Optima with a Toyota Camry. The Kia cost more to insure than my 2020 Ram 1500 even though the Kia has the theft prevention system in it (thieves don't know that). The Camry is less than both.
