I aired my tires down on 2500 to 60 rear and 55 front, and boy is it a much better ride. Why is it that 20 years ago we did not need TPMS, we did it the old fashioned way, check monthly and air up as needed.. One of the reasons why no one knows anything about cars any more...

rant over.... sorry

TPMS became mandatory after all the rollover accidents in the 90's due to failure of under inflated tires.

So... if 20 years ago people had actually checked their tires monthly and inflated as needed, TPMS wouldn't exist.

If you buy a 3500 you can kiss TPMS goodbye and say hello to TPIS, simply a system where you display the tire pressures, no alarms or lights.

True and I hate that fact. I drove around for over a week with a flat tire without knowing I had one. I stumbled on the flat checking the Evic, by happenstance. Why do the disable the warning on the 3500 seems dumb to me considering all the hardware is there.

If it was TPMS---AND---the thresholds could be set by the user, including "OFF", then almost everyone would be satisfied. I think it is a very handy feature, though I still carry an accurate gauge in my glovebox, that they have made into a nanny-nuisance.

At one time there were no sensors. Then there was the ability to switch to light load.

But now because of a handful of idiot end users who either didn't know or plead ignorance in law suit we all get to deal with either having it full on or completely disabled.

The consequence of a litigious society.

I do like the light load option, just lowered mine back down today as the 5'er is parked for the winter.
