I always turn off traction control off road..... I think it works against you...

Also if I am riding slow in the woods, I tend to put my truck in tow/haul mode...
Does not seem to gear hunt as much.

I do same with TH. It also helps keep ATF cooler as it locks up the torque converter. Unlocked torque converter dump a lot of heat.

Please give some more information in regards to locking up the torque converter while in T/H mode. How low in the gear range will be locked up? Certainly not 1st, but what others might the torque converter lock up? Any other factors that will determine if and when the torque converter gets locked up? i.e. speed? Links to Information on this subject?
I sincerely would like to learn more.

The tow haul mode changes your shift points up so your torque converter slips less so will produce less heat with the higher RPM

I haven't logged gear an tc lockup under off road conditions. The tc will unlock below 1200rpm. I do know if you run at 1500 for any length of time it will lockup. I think it is only 2nd gear and up but not 100% sure.

I know that on my RAM when in THM it will never enter 8th gear. Some say that this is not so but I have tried repeatedly at many different speeds and throttle usage to get it to enter 8th gear when in THM and it simply will not. I think you are saying that over 1500 RPM the torque converter will completely lock up when in THM. To be safe I will say in 6,7 gear when in THM. If this does in fact happen then theoretically heat production should be reduced. I'll buy that, if in fact the torque converter does go into lockup.

I am usually on a tablet, and the larger screen shows more than phones, which I think is what most readers use these days.

The point being that posters with Hemi, Pentastar, and diesel are discussing transmission behavior and probably not realizing there’s little in common. One of the shortcomings of this platform.

I’m not persuaded by many positions that include the terms “always” or “never”. Sometimes traction control is your friend. Sometimes it’s your enemy. Mud, ice, sand, or rock crawling do not all respond well to a single strategy.
