Anyone carry specific spare parts with them? Things that could leave you stranded if they break in a remote location?

In the Land Cruiser world, for example, it's not uncommon to carry a spare CV on the 100 series as those are often the 'fuse' in the driveline.

In the Jeep caravans I was a part of we would spilt the part load and tools to do the repair on the trail. My Power wagon has more electronics in the lockers then my whole Jeep had total.
I haven’t broke anything yet... not sure what the “weak link” is. You my get some older PWs to chime in to give an idea?

Carry some short 2 by 4's or even wider wood 2 by 6 planks to place under the OEM jack. Carry another even taller jack and some wheel chalks.

The Power Wagon is lifted and has 33" OEM tires. The OEM jack that's used on a 2 wheel drive Ram 1500 with smaller tires is this same jack. It is quite easy to max out the height of the OEM jack without being able to get the Power Wagon high enough to reinstall the fully inflated spare. Been there.

I plan to have sliders and a high-lift jack along with a bottle jack. I also carry 4x MaxTrax. And for firewood I carry KD 2x4's cut to 16" length. They're cheap, bug-free, don't shed bark in the bed, and are great for leveling the truck. I chop them up to identical lengths on the miter saw and throw them into 20 gal Costco bins for transport. If there is available dry fuel at camp, I'll use that. Otherwise, I'm good to go for getting 'channel one' turned on quickly at camp.

It's good that you will be prepared for off-road and camping for tire issues. My mistake was trusting those stock OEM Duratrac tires while driving on asphalt. My first Duratrac flat tire was in downtown Butte, Montana with a possible copper penny puncture. My second was on a asphalt highway grade in Iowa near a cornfield. I think that it was a corn kernel that punctured it. I didn't have any issues with those tires off-road.

The weak link in modern vehicles is all the electronics in my experience. In the last couple of decades that’s been almost the only issues I’ve seen. In today’s truck there are sensors and switches too numerous to count that can cripple you. I carry a Garmin Inreach, a credit card, and enough personal gear to keep us alive until cavalry can arrive.

Most often we are a solo vehicle wheeling as far from the crowd as we can be. I might eat these words later, but a mechanical failure hasn’t stranded me in 40 years. Of course I do all my own maintenance and I’m very particular about it.

Most of the breakdowns I have witnessed are from a combination of overloaded and abused or aggressively operated vehicles. I don’t do that.

Basically I don’t anticipate breaking the PW mechanical components. And if some random electronic gremlin stops me I don’t have much belief I can diagnose and repair it on the trail.

I do carry tools, tapes, hose, ties, the usual bandaids to cover minor breakages.

If hard wheeling in rocks. A driveshaft is a great one since the oem is aluminum and rocks like to eat it. The factory jacks suck so I carry a bottle jack and a couple good chunks of wood. Apart from normal tools and recovery stuff. That’s pretty much all I have. Ive had zero issues with my electronic 4wd system and I use it a friggin a lot lol.

Yeah, definitely. I'm a big believer in the 'Rule of 3's'... 3 minutes, 3 hours, 3 days... and have a BoB ('Bug out Bag') setup for those contingencies. 3 minutes is for life saving tools: turniquet, airway, predator defense (either two or four legged). 3 hours is for shelter/warmth/shade: emergency bivouac, space blanket, gloves/hat, etc. 3 days is water/energy/help: water purification, energy dense food, portable ham radio, InReach.

Write out what is in your BOB for us. I’m intrigued.

It would be a long list and honestly I couldn't catalog it all from memory. I should do a vid sometime. But basically it's setup so if the truck is on fire I can grab it with one hand and be set for at least three days. In theory it never gets touched for daily camping needs so I never have to think about what needs to be replaced. I can make shelter, clean water, start fires, have light, communicate, treat trauma, as well as defend myself (or even hunt small game if needed) plus misc things like battery mags, compass, TP, a few blue glowsticks, etc.

One item I'm pretty happy to have in it is a Kel-Tec Sub 2K. Not a fan of the Kel-Tec brand at all - honestly it's pretty cheaply made - but for an ultra light weight collapsible PCC it's pretty sweet and has interchangeable Glock 9mm mags. I keep three 33 round mags on the front of the bag on molle pouches. If 100 rounds (plus what I have on my hip) can't suppress the threat then it's not my battle to win. ;-)

I like it. Thought it was a little excessive but then I saw were you live. You might need a few more clips.

Lol. I live out in the sticks in Central Oregon so things are a pretty tame in my world. It's the knuckleheads in Bridgetown that are the problem.

For 4lbs and $375 its an easy decision to keep in the bag and it buys options.
