Trailer brake controller

I have a 2011 2500 4x4 that keeps flashing " Service Trailer Brake System ". Previous owner told me she had it disconnected for whatever reason and I need to get it fixed. I've checked wiring and fuses and found nothing. Any ideas? Also, trailer plug works ok for trailer lights. Thanks

Lights work, but do the electric brakes on your trailer? I know the system goes and looks for the magnets in the drum brake assemblies as a load. If they are an open circuit, it calls out the fail.
