I have a new 2014 1500 Express.

It didn't come with a hitch, go figure. I just ordered one.

However, just to be safe, I just tried to plug my trailer into the pre-installed trailer plug receptacle above my bumper, and nothing happens.

Do I need to do anything to make this work or should it be fired up by default?

Possible that you would need to ground the trailer to the truck (normally done via the hitch and ball)?? Just a thought.

Also if the hitch isn't there maybe they didn't put the fuse in for the plug?

Usually a physical connection it seems. Glad you figured it out.
