Hey guys, I bought a dodge factory match trans temp gauge from autometer. I am trying to tap into the trans line, rather than drill a hole in my trans case. Does anybody know which of the two is the transmission hot return line is?

I have the 4.7L 5 speed automatic

thanks!

Get an adaptor and put it off of one of the trans test ports on the side.

just like Kenneth said. No need to drill. use test port 3 on the right side of the trans.

I was going to do the trans line so I didn't have to drill into the case, what and where is test port 3? Is it one the case? How would I go about installing this there?

I have the factory matched trans temp gauge as well. But the sender and adapter that comes with it won't fit into the test port 3 ( located on the passenger side transmission). Therefore you have to buy the 1/8 sending unit and the 1/8 to 1/16 adapter. Once you have those you simply unscrew a plug on the transmission install the adapter and sending unit (part numbers above) and wire it up. If you need I can take a picture of mine installed.

Sweet, thanks for the help guys! I will get it up and running as soon as possible!

By the way do you know if autometer can replace the bezels on their gauges if I send it in? I'm very aggravated since when I mocked it up I scratched the bezel  I do not like them even though they are minimal
