I'm new to this 2019 Bighorn, was looking through the manual and I see it recommended changing the xfer case fluid every 10k

Seems extreme??

Do you have a pic of that?

My manual didn't show any required service until 20k and even then does not say anything about transfer case

I think If it was required there would be a dot or x under the 10000 column.

No dots or x-s means it's meant to never be changed.

Good point, I should read more....

Xfer case not due until 120k

That's a whole lot of space in the manual to tell you to change it at 120k

Appreciate the guidance

No problem.

And I agree, its not laid out very well.

And I also do NOT agree to wait until 120K. Every vehicle Ive owned with an xfer case said around 60K IIRC, in fact Im about to do the transfer case fluid on my 2011 G37 with 53K miles.

I recently purchased a used Chevy and the transfer case fluid was nasty looking at 60k. Probably never been touched.

New vehicle purchases I always replace all the oils after initial break in and then follow whatever is published for severe service.

My RAM only has 20K miles and is under MaxCare Lifetime, but I will probably change the diff and transfer case fluids early (leaving the transmission alone for now).

Same here, have Maxcare lifetime...

bought with 26K on it, gonna change oil and all fluids as I have done on other used vehicles (diff's, xfer, engine)

This was a lease so I have a good clean carfax report with all service internval.

Odd one was the Engine/powertrain computer/module replaced at 15K miles

I changed my transfer case at the same time as my transmission, cause they both use ATF. The transfer case only took 2 quarts, the transmission 7 quarts. I have the chain drive old time Borg Warner BW44-46 transfer case on my HD 2500.

Transfer case is super easy to change, both plugs are easy to access. Well, had to take off the brush guard plate and need a fill pump, but easy compared to the transmission.
