What is the equivalent transfer case fluid, and transmission fluid for a 2015 3500 with the 6.4 liter, and I'm 90% sure that it's a 66RFE transmission. As well as capacities?

Also, you can find the transfer case model number sticker on the transfer case housing.

If you don't have 4WD "Auto" on your console, you likely have the Borg Warner BW44-46 old time chain drive part time transfer chase, which uses ATF, regardless what the manual says. They factory fill them with ATF (the only red-dyed oil).

The manual says to use the Mopar BW 44-44 T.C. fluid, but it is expensive, so just looking for a cheaper alternative that is compatible.
If the ATF +4 will work and not damage the case, I'm good with that, and my wallet will be happier.

It's a 3500, I don't think they got the auto case? But that's the 44-44 case which OP said the manual calls for

I like the Valvoline. It is $14.99/qt. Recommended for the BW44-44 Screenshot_20250911-150628_Advance Auto.jpg

BW44-44 is the "Auto" transfer case with wet clutches that requires friction modifier additives.

BW44-46 is the non-auto part time transfer case without wet clutches that can use any chain oil, basically. Comes factory-filled with ATF. BW used to recommend ATF all the time for these. I have this transfer case on my 2017 Ram 2500 4x4 Crew Cab with Hemi 6.4 engine and 66RFE transmission.

Actually, when I looked today the T.C. sticker says it's 44-47, so I'm really confused now.

BW44-46 is chain drive and has an electronic clutch.
BW44-47 is chain drive and has manual shifter.

Both come factory filled with ATF.

BW44-44 is the different transfer case that uses wet clutches that allow differing wheel speeds so is marketed as "full time 4WD", and has an "Auto 4WD" switch in the cab. This is the one that requires a specific oil with specific friction modifier additives to work properly without chattering. It's not really "full time" 4WD like modern "AWD" vehicles that use a viscous coupling between the drive shafts.

There are many posts on this if you search for transfer case threads. I've been running ATF in my transfer case always - includes 1st drain and fill because ATF oil from the factory drained out.

These are facts, choose what you want.

HEMIMANN above has it completely nailed. 1500 has BW44-44 with clutches that needs the special expensive oil with the friction modifiers. 2500/3500 have BW44-46 (electrical switch shifted) or BW44-47 (lever shifted) and use ATF. I just changed the transfer case fluid in my 2018 2500 a few weeks ago and used Amsoil "Signature Series" synthetic ATF.

Murderman got it right. AMSOIL sells Singnature Series Multi Vehicle Automatic Transmission Fluid, which is a GOOD SUBSTITUTE for the MOPAR " GOLDEN OIL ", for your transfer case. ATFQT is the quart bottle at $18.69 or ATFPK is the quart flex package at $21.69. I have not found it in retail stores but independent dealers have it.

A BW -44 MUST have special fluid. The other BWs can use ATF4.
