That's the dumbest thing I read all day. Who TF wants to work on the ground like a peasant.
For this job, no, I don’t want a lift. I’ll stand by my words. The tail end has to be higher than the front to level the transmission. The truck must be run in 2nd gear as part of the procedure. I’m not wild about doing that stuff while the truck is on a lift even if the ceiling height permitted it.

Do I want to work on the ground? Not really, but in this case I’ll go with the jackstands to do this job.

I literally made a DIY 8 speed swap thread buddy. I know the fill process. 90% of the job was done on the 2 post lift. The only reason I worked on the ground like a peasant, was to verify the oil level.

I rather put on PPE pans and filling them standing up ;)

And my new shop will have both a 2 post and 4 post. So I'll be able to jack up the rear end while in the air.

I’m happy for you.

Did they level the transmission? Bet no.
Wild one has a very good post on doing this with the spread sheet from the manufacture of the transmission, which is not Chrysler/Ram / what ever.
A pit would work out quite good, thou I have always hated the things.
You never ever take the right tools down in the pit, dark and damp.

Rolling around on the ground is not a problem with old carpet to lay on.
But now some time you have to get back up again.

Same question. Did they level the trans. Mine is being done next week. We will level the trans and drain it.
The procedure is dead nuts on spot. I'm not going to drop the pan, I'm doing a fluid change only. I just turned 83K and the truck has always been light duty,

Ill measure the amount that drains out and put the same amount back in. We will do the fluid change when the truck is cold.
Then, When the trans temp is correct, Ill check the fill level. add if necessary.

@tommy991155, it will be interesting to see if yours takes a little more fluid on the recheck. My factory fill was ~3/4 qt. low.

Have all your stuff ready, because it does not take long for the trans to hit 122°F. Then you'll be waiting for a cool down.

After my initial fill, I did a full-temp run just to make sure everything got heated up.

I'm due for my 8 speed service again and will be installing a PPE pan. Since I've deleted the coolant lines for the 3-way valve circuit, I should have plenty of time before 122° is reached.
