Today I was coming home late and it was -25 celcius out (not sure if thats a factor) but anyways, i was going a constant speed of around 60, and the transmission would just keeping changing gears, it would go from 5th to 4th back to 5th then 4th again. i tried it going 50 and it was the same, as well as 70.

any ideas on why, is it because its cold? is it because i have larger tires on? or is my transmission going. truck has 38000 km on it

Could be the bigger tires. I think that's an issue if you don't change your gearing. Maybe something a tuner could address as well. I am still on stock wheels at the moment and when I make turns or let off the gas at a certain speed and get back on it, it seems to struggle to figure out which gear it wants. From what I have read, it's a common annoyance even on a stock setup. What tires you runnin'?

I had this happen JUST this morning actually.

As well, the temp was -31 deg C this morning. I figured maybe the trans didn't like the temp, and my tranny temps were normal (50 deg F) and all other fluid temps were at operating temp as well.

I could feel it backshift harder at 80 (from 6-5) and again at 50km/hr (from 5-4, or 4-3). I stopped at Mcdonalds for a coffee, fired it up again and it seemed to run normal afterwards.

I cant attribute it to anything, and have yet to confirm with Sean at HEMIFEVER if he played with trans tuning at all on my truck when I got the tune done.

ahh okay im not alone then haha, maybe it was the temp who knows. but i felt the exact same thing as you, it was weird

I had one friend who had this issue sort of, with 37s as well and when he would give it lots of gas the truck would nose dive, turned out to be a fuel pump not getting enough pressure

Sorry man I don't have any online right now. Haven't had any time with days being so short. I'll try and get one up soon though

My truck is doing the same sort of thing. Feels reluctant to shift into od and engine brakes a lot more. I'm on stock tires right now so it must be the - 45*C weather we are having

The cold weather can lead to all kinds of goofy things like that. Your fluid in the trans is like mud, even after a warmup, the rotors are not as free wheeling, brakes are draggy because they don't back off properly because again, when it's that cold you may as well be pushing oatmeal through the lines. Rubber isn't as pliable and you have worse rolling resistence, bearing and joint grease is like unset cement.
My truck has been doing similar things over the past couple days. -50C here in the wind (which is ALL the time so windchill is actual) and it feels like I am driving through a swamp. Improves after about an hour.

Alright so we got it figured out. And all it needed was a quick learn on the computer. No big deal at all and now she runs as good as ever! I don't know what threw it out of wack but now it seems okay. Fingers crossed haha

but now she's Goin into the dealership on Thursday to get both front and rear transfer case seals redone cuz it's leaking >:D
