Transmission shifts at high RPM

2001 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9L v8 2wd. Transmission is only wanting to shift at high rpm when I let off the gas and when let off it shifts I can watch the rpm drop and feel the truck shift but when I go to accelerate again it’s like it never shifted out of 1st. But when I get to high rpm and go from drive to Neutral then back to Drive it shifts but starts sputtering then downshifts out of 2nd back to 1ft. No codes are being thrown and fluid and everything is in good condition

That doesn't sound good, If it's the tranny you may need a OBD reader that can read drivetrain codes, I know mine doesn't. Hopefully it's just a valve or something simple.
