2009 Dodge Ram with 235k miles. I haven't had an issues with my tranny, and the fluid still had a nice color, but I decided to change it this weekend since I didn't know when it was last changed.

The magnet had what I would consider normal buildup on it (I've seen a lot worse), and no noticeable metal particles or shavings.

However, mixed in with the gunk on the magnet was a very small spring. Does anyone have any idea where it came from and if I should be worried?

Its probably from the valve body somewhere if your not having issues at that mileage i would ignore it and prepare yourself for a trans to go at some point thats alot of miles if thats the orig trans.
