I was recently in Eastern Oregon and the overnight temperature drop to 7° F, got up and went to leave in the morning and the transmission was stuck in the limp home mode (4th) fluid was good, drove it about 30 minutes, pulled over turn it off and back on, transmission came back to the normal mode, have driven about 600 miles with no further problems, any idea's as to the freeze up?

Mines done that once also. I’ve heard it could be the shift solenoid. But I ain’t theorist money till it does it again or throws a code. I’ve had zero issues since it did it several months back. Same thing. Restarted and all was fine.

Mines a newly rebuilt trans and after getting my motor rebuilt it gets stuck sometimes. I will start the truck and it says 2 and is stuck in gear. Shift to neutral and back and then all good. I also have a shudder between 10-15mph.

I’m thinking Torque Converter maybe?
