Hi. My 2005 Ram 2500 diesel 4x4 has a automatic transmission that will not downshift to first and second gears, even if I move the gear shift lever to 1 and 2. A mechanic here tells me he believes it is an electrical problem. He checked it with a computer analyzer. I live in Panama, Central America, and am not sure how knowledgeable he is . Can anyone give input as to what the problem might be?
Thanks

I had an issue similar to that a few years ago. My was doing a 2nd gear start where at stop lights it would not go down to 1st. Ended up being a valve body issue and I replaced a sensor (dont remember which one). So yes it could be just a sensor. I dont know that much about the specs on these transmissions.
