I have a 04 1500. My engine light is on. I unplug the battery ( the light is off) and can drive till i have shut it off. Then irs back on. Anyone help me out

You need to check the code for the check engine light. Don't keep resetting it, if the DTC (diagnostic trouble code) is something serious enough to cause the truck to not run you could be damaging the truck.
Take the truck to a parts store to have the code checked or order a handheld scanner online.
