a few weeks ago I had to make a trip through a snowy canyon, everything was fine (about a 50mile trip) just about the time I got to my destination (after stopping and shutting off the truck and starting it back up) the truck freaked out, the wipers went slow, the heater shut off and it the check engine light came on. I shut it down about 50 yards later and started it back up and all seemed fine, except the engine light.
I got to my destination and I just happen to keep a Carista obd2 reader in the truck so I checked the codes and it was a crankcase position sensor. I figured I’d try clearing the code and see if that would hold which it did.
This whole trip I was running in 4wd auto.
so the trip home was fine no issues. I get near home and there’s no reason for 4wd, so I turn it off, the light flashed and keeps flashing and then stays on.
fast forward, I just put a new actuator in today (Dana/spicer) and have my sone listen as I move the selector. He said he could hear it making noise when I’d turn the knob. The only problem is won’t turn off. So we took it for a drive and the knob is off but 4wd light still flashes and stays on. Then the 4wd service light comes on. So we pull off and shut down and I scan on the off chance there’s a non-tipm code- no code. Start the truck up and the 4wd service light doesn’t come back on but I still can’t get the 4wd auto light to go off.
What are my next moves? Am I going to have to go to a dodge dealer and have them diagnose it? Or something easier?
Edit: could this be related to a bad wheel hub? Last oil change I was told I needed a new LF wheel hub and inner/outer tie rods
