I've been having a little bit of a lingering issue with my automatic transmission. I know transmissions are the achilles for a ram, it has to do with the shifting. It likes to ride around 2,500 before it wants to kick into the next gear, sometimes a little bit higher. I had previously replaced the speed sensor and going to replace the filter and fluid. Ran into a gentleman awhile back who had one and mentioned something along the lines that sometimes the seals in the trans around the shift pins like to stick and replacing them can do the trick..? Curious if it's something I can do myself while I'm replacing the filter or do I need to get an overhaul. Any suggestions?? Preciate it!

There's not a ton of trans knowledge on here sadly. Very few of us have much experience. What gear is it sticking in or is it all gears? I know i was having trouble with mine not shifting into 4th (can't remember which). I had to put it in neutral at 40mph and then back to D to get it to shift. I replaced the governor pressure solenoid and transducer and the problem went away. Never had an issue like that since.

If this sounds like what you're experiencing, go to cascaderransmissionparts.com and get their kit. It's not very expensive and is very easy to do AND includes a larger solenoid that doesnt clog like the stocker. They even have an install video on YouTube.

Fixed that for you.
Also good info Peppy. Definitely going to consider this at the next fluid change.

It usually sticks in every gear, it'll just push the rpm's between 2,500 & 3,000 before it does a slight jump in the shifting process. Then it'll bump into the next gear, it happens more often than not but occasionally it'll shift just fine.

If it does it when downshifting too you can try adjusting your tv cable. Very simple to do.

I've been doing some reading and some have had luck with backing the pressure screw out 3-4 turns. Increases line pressure. I'm not saying I recommend it but SOME have had luck. I'd do more reading though before trying anything like that.
