I got a 96 Dodge Ram 1500 and engine doesn’t turn over.
Was wondering if it could be the ignition switch or the starter turned on fine this morning but now doesn’t turn on at all

It's more likely to be a starter or battery/voltage problem than an ignition switch. If you're getting the click and everything else turns on the way it's supposed to, then it's not the switch. Try jump starting it first. Check your battery terminals, of course. You can try tapping on the starter if that doesn't work but that's not always going to work if it's the starter.

The most common symptom of the click would be the starter as long as the battery is good.Tapping the starter then jumping in to start it does not work most of the time. You need someone to hold the key to the start position while you tap the starter. If that still doesn't work then get a test light to see I you have power at the starter when someone tries to start it. If theres power at the starter when trying to start it and no movement from the starter then you need a starter. If theres no power at the starter while cranking it then theres an ignition switch issue, a relay or fuse issue
