whatever that is connected to is shorting out/or bad. can't you trace the wires to see where they go?

if you leave it disconnected, what doesn't work? (other than the truck)

that wire splices into a big red wire that has one more wire spliced into it like a Y the big red wire goes to the firewall inside some place under the dash.

no but it could as it is attached to the other two wires the other two wire are smaller so they would burn first.

ugh....you're gonna have to trace those wires , or, put a meter on each one and check them to see if one is grounded out. i use a meter with needle point connectors, that way i can just ground one wire then push the other into another wire without cutting it.

evidently, one of those wires is shorting out. don't have a wiring diagram, but, maybe someone does in here.

Not everyone has the patience or motivation to keep a 32 year old truck running.

It might be time to hire a professional.

so you don't have a meter or can't be bothered to look at a wiring diagram.
GM wiring is not much different them Dodge, if something shorts out,
Wires rubbing on frame, mice having lunch on the insulation.
Fellow north end of town has rabbits eating the wiring out of his GM 1/2 ton, they like the rubber hose as well, bush bunnies, cute, but I did not know they liked wiring.
I use to have the shop manual for my 1995, would be the same I think.

My friend, I get the frustration, I really do!

However, you have a 30+y/o rig with electrical issues and you're condemning it because it's a MOPAR.

Were I a betting man, I'd say something like it's a possible grounding issue, and/or wiring shorting out because it's old, brittle, sheathing compromised and it's causing the erratic issues, etc.

You need to get that multi-meter out and start digging in and get to the bottom of it.

C'mon, Brother, you can do and be, better, no?!

Tossing it in and slamming it, especially in this environment, isn't going to net you the results you were hoping for.

People who don't have a good electrical understanding are easily frustrated. Not having a schematic is self-defeating.

(P.S. Not sure, could be a fusible link)
