Truck will stall while driving, lose electric power, can't remove key. Then randomly 5-40 mins later dash lights up, truck starts and runs fine.

I've seen plenty of posts on stuck keys or stalled truck or even loss of electrical power. But not all three. Terminals are good. Replaced batteries in fob. Checked battery. Just wondering if anyone else has seen this before I take it to a mechanic and they start firing away with the parts cannon trying to fix it.

90k miles. I will check all the ground straps. Battery is two years old. I'll swing by an auto parts store and have an actual battery test done. No codes. Thanks for the responses I'll keep you posted if I find the cause.

So no codes also helps, one possible cause is win module ignition, the truck "thinks" you shut off the truck so it doesnt toss a code. You can easily bypass the win module and use a cig relay and set up a push button start, you can do it temporary or hide it good and make it permanent, just to help diagnose.

Another thing, there are sensors that protect your engine by shutting it down, a suspect in these cases. However, they usually toss a code when they do so, which leads me to believe bypassing ignition might solve your issue. I'm not 100% on this, the power outage suggests it may be battery related. But this is something to consider.

Here is how to bypass win mod.

Battery and alternator are good. Checked the grounds. They looked good on the frame and battery and were not loose. Removed and cleaned them anyway.

Watched the video on the win mod. One difference with my situation is that the dash would be off while the key was stuck in the ignition and wouldn't start. Then 15-30 minutes later. (I'm out side the vehicle on the phone) I hear the truck beeping like I just put the key in the ignition and the dash comes on. I can start the truck and go like nothing happened.

Yes, I hinted at that when I said power outrage, but not every win module will fail the same way. That is a simple way to test ignition, if it fixes it you know all you have to do is replace win module and flash it. Furthermore, you can always have the stuff to bypass in the truck and you will never be stranded for this.

What's going on sounds like more of a sensor protecting the engine, but there isnt a code, so what other possibilities are there? TIPM or Win would be the main suspects. If the computer fails a third thing past the other two, I simply don't know sh it about that. Maybe someone smarter could answer that.

I'll try it out. It happens completely randomly, every few weeks or so. If it works I'll just keep posting every few weeks or so that there hasn't been any new occurrences.

Just make sure you use the right relay, one that only comes on with power. That link was fo r ram 2500, I'm not sure if it is the same, test it. try taking out relay to cig lighter and test it with something, you have 12 v compressor or something? Make sure it turns off when you pull relay, and also test it when you set it up to make sure it doesnt stay hot when key is out.

I had s Ford Edge that did this. Turned out it was a bad ground that was under one of the black boxes under the hood.

Just throwing things out there

The 2014 Dodge Ram's ignition may experience malfunction at around 80,000-100,000 miles due to a faulty WIN or "wireless ignition node module". Chrysler actually recalled this part on certain models of the 2009-2010 Dodge Journey and 2008-2010 Dodge Grand Caravan.

This issue is different than yours
