Hey guys so i were i live we,ve been having quit the cold snap for 2 weeks now and it causing hell on earth with my truck. for about a week my truck would not reach temp and i had no heat so i found out my sta was bad and replaced it. i used go5 coolant as recommend bleed the air out ect. it worked fine for one day and then the next day the same issue arose again it wont reach temp. and my coolant was gelled so i did a coolant fluse. my truck wont reach temo now while idling but reach temp while driving, now when i let it sit and idle after a drive the temp goes back down and stays that way. my head gaskets are good im not burning coolant or getting coolant into my oil. i have no leaks anywhere so idk wtf is going on with the danm thing.

You should check coolant for exhaust gases a cracked head doesn't always burn coolant but I know it will pressurise the cooling system stopping or slowing the flow. When the head cooles off the crack seals up then growing when heated. You can chemical test the radiator trough the fill opening. I'll send a picture of test kit tomorrow when I get to work.

Sounds like you mixed antifreezes if it gelled. Might need to do several flushes to get it all out if that's what happened.

I used the recomwned antifreeze when I changed the stat. Mixed it 50/50 but I didn't check it after. Own stupidity. It been flushed and new coolant added, haven't had any issues with gelling since. New stat is good too.

Is the temp gauge down or is there just not much heat in the cabin?

If it gelled ,perhaps when it was flushed the heater core was not thoroughly cleaned. I would remove heater hoses to and from the heater core and reflush it to be sure it is clean.

Might still be an issue with the thermostat.
Do you get any heat out of the heater - I don't know if coolant can't flow through the heater if it will make the thermostat open more often and then it not being able to really regulate the coolant level.

Open the cap half way and run it if it warms up and flows with cap off but not when cap is tight then your building pressure from the combustion chamber. It's easy to rule out and the cooling system is not this complicated. Temperature gun helps too
