Thinking about deleting my peddle commander and using the 85MM throttle body and tuner flashpaq F5. What's the gains from that combo? Worth the cost?
Suggested combos. Trying to stay under $1K..

From what I understand, and I will say now that I might be wrong, you won’t gain much of anything from the throttle body or it will be single digit hp/tq gains. What you will gain is throttle response from it which will feel like hp/tq gains. The tuner and tune (especially if you get a custom or dyno tune) can gain you a bunch of hp/tq especially if you have more mods like cold air intake, exhaust, long tube headers, etc.

I do know that someone on Facebook just designed and started selling a ported throttle body that was supposed to be really nicely made and do better than FAST, Fatman, and Moe’s, but I can’t find where I saved who it was. It cost $350 and was supposed to be a bolt on but I think there’s a throttle relearn that has to be done to it and requires a tuner to do. Wild One on here might know which 1 I’m talking about. It came out just before Christmas and I know I was really considering it based on their testing but I didn’t have the money.

I believe most any mod you make will yield you worse mileage.

Jason Dauria makes it,and it's available through him or Kyle Tingles new business Gauge Performance.

I tagged both on facebook, hopefully one of them will drop in here.

IMO a throttle body should be one of the last upgrades you do for performance. By itself you won't notice much of a difference with a it. But add it to a Hemi that has longtubes, CAI, and a good custom tune and you will notice a bit better throttle response.

I put a Moe's TB on simply because it's the last "easy" bolt on for my truck. It made my throttle response better to the point I had to adjust my Pedal Commander down a little but it really wasn't a huge difference.

Also keep in mind there's guys running 12s at the track with nitrous on the stock TB....

This is a direct purchase and no need to send a core. See the link to the Facebook page. Both guys mentioned in Wild Ones link are very well known, great people, and definitely know their stuff when it comes to Rams.

Is there anything to do besides bolt on and go? I’ve seen where some of the throttle bodies require a throttle relearn.

They’ve been around and are very respected and knowledgeable. I was going to buy 1 when they first came out but didn’t have the money and wanted to buy long tube headers first.

Throttle body is relatively new,but Jason's been around for several years now.He was the guy building the valve spring tool so you could swap valve springs on a Hemi with-out pulling the heads,he's also the guy behind the shutter delete kit that's available on "facebook" lol. If you don't know who Kyle Tingle is,you've been under a rock for along time, just razzing ya lad, lol.Kyles the first guy to put a bolt-on 8 speed truck into the 11's a few years ago.You can join facebook so you're on some of the high performance Ram pages, little tip for you,you don't have to comment on everything, especially if it's a post that makes your blood boil, just learn to sit back and read a lot of the posts as entertainment, kinda like Jay/Pull Ya and I do,some nights it makes for some good entertainment, lol.

Even if you pull the stock throttle body off, just for cleaning, you should do a throttle re-learn,anytime the TB is unhooked it doesn't hurt to do a throttle re-learn,it's not absolutely nessecary, but it doesn't hurt either.

Ya. I read more than I post as a lot of it is the same questions time and time again about the same topics usual. And then there’s usually some jerk that has to be completely negative for no reason and those are the posts to just leave alone.

The only problem with the throttle relearn is that you need a tuner or the dealer has to perform it and I can’t afford to go back to the guy that did my dyno tune just for that and I don’t know that I can do it with a handheld tuner without getting that installed on my tuner first. If that makes sense?? Lol. And I’m not paying the dealer $55 or $110 to do it as that’s just nuts. I’m pretty sure you can’t do it with AlfaOBD either unfortunately.

You can do a manual relearn with-out a tuner/scan tool.

These are the instructions that come with one of Dans Fastman 84mm throttle bodies.

Turn the key to run but don't start the vehicle.Wait 30 seconds for the dash lights to go out.Now push the pedal to the floor slowly and let it back up slowly. Now start the engine, let it idle and steady itself out.Rev it up a little to make sure it is working normally, then take it for a test drive.
If the above reset doesn't work, disconnect the battery cable,do a battery reset, then repeat above procedure.

There's a few video's posted on how to do a manual relearn, but basically they all say the same thing and follow roughly the same procedure.Somebody had their procedure posted on here a few years ago,it should show up in the search function.

There's also one version floating around that says to cycle the key on and off several times after the battery disconnect,i've never tried that one,as I've always just done the pedal to the floor slowly version, even did it with the stock TB anytime I had it disconnected, which was fairly often,my truck is nitrous fed,so the TB has been on and off many times in the last 6 years, lol.
