I have been reading posts and threads for days in this and other forums and am not able to find a tuner recommendation to disable MDS on my 2018 Ram 3500 6.4l. For some reason this particular combo is tough to find. My previous truck, 2007 Silverado, used AFM and had 2 lifters seize. One on each side of the engine within 9 months of each other. I do not want to go there ever again. Can someone advise on a tuner that will work with my truck configuration? Thanks in advance.

Have you looked at the Edge Pulsar? Or HP Tuners?

be carefull with a pulsar they fit the 1500 fine but the 2500 pcm is in a tight spot. i could not get one to fit in my truck. not even if i was willing to bend my ac lines. if all you want to do is turn off mds. just use the + & - bottons. save a lot of money and headaches.

This is what I do. Most of my driving is highway so once I lock out the mds, I'm done for many miles. It's free and couldn't be any easier.

Took long drive last night and thought "well I'll let it run as factory as possible". Geez. Just seems bad that it has to lug to run 62mph with no headwind. Lock out that mds and man it runs soooo smooth. Hardly seems like a big powerful v8. I can't do the mpg comparing cause of weird usage but it would only be worth if it was like 5mpg Gaines.

I'm all for tech and improvements. But this is a miss or needs refinement. Turn it on if I'm at 60+ and then I can see it making sense for some freeway rolling and adjust it to come out of it easier. Man. She will lug pretty bad before coming out. Unrefined concept is the way I look at it.

Thank you ripping r for the advise, I purchased a pulsar and installed it. It was an easy peasy. OMG, after 2 weeks of driving I am astonished at the difference in the trucks drive-ability. The Pulsar has 8 standard performance settings and I tried them all. Each setting was like giving the truck a different personality. Plus the MDS is turned off by default. My hat is off to the engineers at Diablosport.

Maybe this is a stupid question, but does that tuner leave a “footprint” on the truck’s computer? In other words, will it be detected if there is a warrant claim?
