Did a test run and the turbo spools up much quicker now. But, still a bit sluggish off the line. The HHP stage 4 turbo cam is a full race top-end boost cam. The cam is sluggish on the street below 3000rpm and has some tuning issues at lite throttle lower rpm's.
To make it more enjoyable driving on the street. Going to change the cam back to the Inertia rv/turbo street cam. This is a good all around cam and is much easier to tune.
Went ahead and installed a Dynomax muffler to clear the spare tire at the tail pipe. Also installed a Dynomax race muffler ahead of the second muffler. They got rid of the drone and quieted down the exhaust sound with no power loss. All diesel performance mufflers are 4 inch in/out.
Found what was causing my tuning problems. POS BBK 90mm throttle body... Runs better and steady with the oem 80mm throttle body. The rv/turbo street cam has a great mid to upper rpm power band. Feels surprisingly strong with just 6psi boost. Have to install the iat sensor in the intercooler and a few more small things. Other than that, it's ready for a new tune.
How is your transmission holding up, the ATS stage 3? I’m asking as I have a ATS stage 5 that I’m currently waiting to be shipped and installed. Rona has it taking longer then expected.
It's holding up very well. Really like this ATS trans. It holds the power very well. I have a custom Pro Edge 3000 stall tc. Perfect match to the ATS trans. You're going to like it.
PS. Very Important Note: Don't do any from overdrive to wot down shifting into 2nd prime. The 545rfe trans just wasn't made to do that... Take it out of overdrive first, then mash the gas.
