Surely others have had this issue. I have searched but can't find anything similar to my problem....

2011 1500 5.7 Hemi

Started about a month ago. All of a sudden it would turn over but wouldn't crank. I figured battery so I hooked wife's car up to mine and it fired right up and was fine for a week or so.

Fast forward a week, same thing. Turn over but won't crank. This time I didn't try jumping, I just waited for 1 minute then tried again and it fired right up. It did this every couple days at this point, usually after sitting a while. All I would have to do when I wouldn't start was wait and minute and it would fire back up.

Fast forward to this past Friday. Went to go this work, wouldn't start. Waited a couple mins and tried again, still nothing. Jumped right off when I hooked up wife's car. Went to leave work, and it wouldn't start. Waited a minute or so, still wouldn't start. Waited 5 more minutes, still nothing. Tried jumping it, same result, turn over but wouldn't crank.

Had it towed home. Checked the fuel pump and it is working, but don't think it's getting power. We used jumper wires to test the fuel pump and it worked. Checked the plug with a voltmeter and it didn't register anything.

We have ruled out ignition, it is firing. Battery is good. Even tried the battery from my dads Ram and did the same thing. Fuses are good, and we tried swapping relays but it did the same thing. We are lost. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Crank or cam sensors maybe dying. Does anything happen if you hit the gas?

Nope. If I hit the gas it doesn't even try to start, just keeps turning over.

Its being towed to the dealership so they can look at it. I'll update on what they find.

My first thought was a relay but you already checked that. weird the fuel pump harness has no power but the relay is good. When you jumped the fuel pump, did you try starting the truck under the jump?

Did the issue start with prolonged cranking before starting and just progress to a no start? Did you check the micro-processor on the negative terminal if power was flowing from it?

Thanks for keeping us informed. I myself have had prolonged cranking for about a month, so your resolution may save some work under the hood.

We did not try to start the truck with the fuel pump jumped. Probably should have but didn't think about that.

The issue started when the truck would not start the first try. It would turn over but would not fire up. If I tried to start it again immediately after, same result. If I waited a minute or longer it would fire right up. When the problem first started, the truck would jump off. As of last week, the truck would no longer jump off.

intermittent/progressively worse till failure. Doesn't sound like a crank/cam sensor because you would have had driveability problems also. Let us know what the stealership finds. Could very well be a short in the harness itself.
