Two oil filters for 2013 ram

First oil change for new to me 2013 Ram 1500 5.7. Picked up filter at Lordco and was asked if I wanted the long or the short filter….huh…why two different filters for this truck?

It's more diameter than length and you can use either. Electric power steering pushed a change to a smaller filter to make it less infuriating to get the filter in and out.

Yes,and what are you calling the "reconmended" oil change interval. The Hemi is one engine you don't want to run much past 8,000 clics between oil changes,7500 clics between changes is even better

I prefer the larger diameter filters for a V8 engine. Nothing changed with the engine. The only change was external such as clearances. The larger filter is a little more difficult to remove but the oil change sucks no matter what.
