Hello all,
I have a 2014 Ram 1500 3.6. While I’ve always had some minor electrical gremlins, the car was running okay. Now, it no longer cranks at all. I plugged in a scanner and got code U0100, which looks like a PCM communication issue. This is the first time it has happened.

In the past, I sometimes had the car not crank or not start, but when it did start, it would always work 100% if I tried again shortly afterward—like within 10 minutes. This time, it happened the same way initially, but then it no longer cranked at all and triggered the U0100 code.

Here’s what happened: I started the car, stopped it after reaching home, then realized I forgot my wallet. I tried to start it again, and it no longer started. I tried jumping it, and I also tested the fuel pump relay bypass with a new relay, but nothing worked.
I lifted up the car and noticed a large single wire that was broken in two.

It was impossible to see the three wires inside (green, black, and white) until i cut it correctly until knowing what it is.

This wire runs from the front of the car to somewhere near or at the fuel tank, hanging along the fuel and brake lines.

Does anyone know what this wire could be? Thanks!

That's nothing vehicle related. That's a household power cord so whatever is going on there is N rigged or someone had some sort of accessory in there like a fuel tank or something. It's def not factory.

My GM trucks that did not come wired for an electrical plug for towing, had the wires pre-run from the front of the truck to the back of the truck tucked up by the gas tank. I don’t know about Ram, but I would take a look at the wiring diagram for your truck

Trace that wire and see where it starts? Think both Brandon W and Hagar1 are spot on.
