So the Uconnect system in my truck does this thing EVERY SINGLE TIME I initially hit the phone button to say a command. I hit the button, let it say its little prompt, and I'll say something like, "Call Dad Mobile" as clear and understandable as possible. It'll then reply with "I believe you selected, Espanol (or French)." I'll cancel the request and re-hit the phone button, repeat my request, and viola, no issues.

Anyone else have a problem like this? Uconnect website says there isn't an update for my unit.

Are you spending too much time at TACO BELL? Sorry couldn't resist!

Seriously, I have a manual on Uconnect on its way and I'll take a look to see if there is a clue about the issue when it arrives.

Must be those $5 box deals! Too good to pass up. Haha! Thanks, let me know if you find anything.

Haven't received the manual yet, but you might want to go to the below link and see if there is any upgrade available for your Uconnect system. You'll need to have the last eight digits of your trucks VIN number handy. From a quick glance it appears there are new voice commands available.

Well, received the manual on Uconnect, and to say at best it is a great disappointment. Useless! Would have been better off investing in a case of beer. All of which means no clues about the issue you have been experiencing.

At this point based upon nearly fifty years of experience in Aerospace and computer electronics my opinion of Uconnect is about as low as Whale poop and it is at the bottom of the oceans. Reminds me of the incompatibility issues that existed with many components in the early days of Personal Computers and ******* operating systems. i'm going to go out on a limb and predict Uconnect will be replaced in the not too distant future probably around the 2015-16 model year. First clue is that after four or more years the aftermarket audio industry has basically thumbed its nose at UConnect.

I really only use it for hands-free talking and calling. So other than that I don't even touch it to change stations or anything like that. So it's not really that big of an issue for me it just bugs me a little bit just enough to ask.

I guess I'll be the odd one out. I love my uconnect! Works great for calling and rarely gets a miss-recognition. And I use voice control to select songs by name all the time. I love that feature the most.

I do wish I could voice select songs on the internal drive though. That only works on my thumb drive or Ipod in the USB glovebox connector.
That's fine, but when you turn of the car at a stop and restart, it goes back to radio instead of the thumb drive I was listening to.

That's pretty poor if you ask me. I have a Pioneer head unit that I recently put into one of my vehicles and if there is a thumb drive present that's what you get when starting the vehicle. I'm thankful my Ram truck has only the most basic head unit. No satellite radio, no USB port, and no GPS. I have been thinking about installing a Kenwood head unit with touch screen into the truck, but it won't be connected into the CON-IHS bus and will be totally isolated from the on board computer.

if you're having trouble with the voice recognition, try re-installing the newest uconnect update (13.19.0) and it should fix it. a few people have updated, and then had to re-do the install for the voice recognition to work flawlessly.

I wonder why it works for some and not others? If I use voice control to select anything on my 5.0 system it plays something completely different, if anything at all.

Me: play Artist Bruce Springsteen
Uconnect: playing artist Metallica

I mean I'm speaking as clear as I can, without an accent ....unless Canadian is an accent! :33:

This would be pretty unacceptable to me. My wifes 2013 Ford Fusion plays everything she commands it too even if she just mumbles it. Its sucks to hear you guys have these troubles.

No problem

I have almost no problems at all. While the Uconnect system nails nearly everything I command, it has a hard time hearing my wife. One thing that does annoy but isn't a big issue is that in my cell I have almost all numbers set as cell numbers and the Uconnect system still asks if I want home or mobile....they are both the same numbers so not a big deal but still an extra step to take.

Interesting it will respond okay to some voices and not others. Anyone else noticed this?

Where could I get the update? The uconnect site says I don't need one so I can't find how to download it.

So this and other threads about the uconnect got me thinking that being resigned to and accepting that voice recognition feature simply doesn't work is maybe a little too nice on my part for a three month old $30k truck. So I spent the past few days trying to get it to play songs and my success rate was zero. I don't need the software update either so I booked an appointment at the dealer. Well see if they can get it working or not.
