Uconnect update realeased on 3-23-2018

Haven't seen anyone post about UCONNECT_8.4A_RA3_17.43.01_MY16_NAFTA but I downloaded and installed it this afternoon. I guess the earlier release had a bug and Navigation would get stuck in a loop or something. I guess they worked all that out and released it again.

Didn't have any issues and I didn't lose any radio presets or info. Went faster than the last update, but it still took 20 minutes or so.

It had 14 "units" it installed but I can't find any specifics of what each one did. Most of the 14 were system check, bootloader, maintenance stuff. The things that were listed as updates were...

Speech
EQ
Apps
Embedded Air Card
XM Pre Update
XM Update
OTA Update

Haven't had a chance to test out speech recognition to see if it's any better. EQ did make a notable improvement in stereo sound. I thought it was just my imagination until my son popped up from his texting and said the stereo sounded a lot better without knowing the update included that. Did not see any new apps or anything changed. Air Card is prolly a Sprint 3G data card update so who knows. I don't subscribe to Sirius XM Radio so I don't know what that updated. The OTA (over the air) update may have been some finishing touches or registering the update on their system at Uconnect / Justice League headquarters.

No issues here if anyone was worried about installing it.

I have the update downloaded, but I haven't installed it yet. I might do that either today or tomorrow.

Side note... It always takes awhile for it to install. This time instead of letting it sit in the driveway idleing, I started the install and then drove around running errands and it didn't mind. I set the heat temp and the radio volume all the way down and it did it's thing.

Same here. Notice we both have 2017s but OP has a 2016.

Wonder if its only for certain years, or they havent updated the '17 model year for it to apply.

Just plugged in my VIN and found two updates; 2017-05-05 & 2018-03-23.

Does the dealer ever update the truck? Also, if the truck is working fine, should I update?

I did the update yesterday everything went smoothly here is what I found different:
Setting/ System info the button about new features is gone, never used it before
The icons for example seat heat are all gray tone
It erased all of my presets
More important it erased all my favorites from XM
Some stations I used to listen to now say no longer subscribed
I wish I didn’t update it!!!

I don't have a subscription to XM so I don't know about that... but my stereo kept all the presets. I also didn't notice a difference in the seat heater icons and I don't recall even having a new features icon in the settings. I know I would have remembered that because I was pretty ticked off that it had Pandora (I use it all the time) when I test drove it and then after they prepped it and updated, Pandora was gone.

I wonder if the installation files update different things based on the Uconnect system you have. My Uconnect is the lower one that didn't come from the factory with Navigation and it was unlocked when I purchased it and then FCA gave me a free map update. It's the basic one without the upgraded Alpine

I just downloaded the 17.43.01_my15 update, but unless I can find out what it improves, kinda scared to install it. I don't use xm, so that's no biggy. But if eq sound is better and hd radio would be worth it.

Was the one update from 2017 the 17.11 update? I did that one and liked the changes it made. I put a 2015 8.4AN in my 2013 Ram, since my 13 had the 8.4A. I think the 17.11 update is a full system update, not like normal updates that just make minor changes. If I had to guess, you should install the 17.11 then the latest.

Well I decided to take a chance and install the new 17.43 update. Really don't notice anything different at all. I don't use xm but my radio presets were still there and all settings. At least didn't hurt anything. Maybe, still need to test in area I don't get reception well, the hd radio may get a little better signal. Usually in my driveway hd is in and out, after install hd was playing with no interruption.

I have a 2014 year model, when i put in my VIN the website only shows UCONNECT_8.4A_RA3_17.11.07_MY14

But I did the last over the air update an currently have 17.11.17. I guess that the OTA update superseded the website... but i cant get the 17.43.

I did the update this morning. I don't notice anything different at all yet. Guess I need to go drive around and waste fuel to see if I can find anything different. Darn it lol

Seems like I don't get the versions screen under settings anymore on my 18 1500 Limited. Only showing the license info. Am I not looking at the correct menu to see what version I have?

2018 screen fonts and icons look totally different than my 16.

Hey I did a post a couple weeks ago warning this update. My post was really intended for the folks who have OEM cargo cam and back up cams pre 2016. The new update removes the forced cargo cam when the vehicle is put in reverse, it does not fix the button selections between the back up and cargo cams!!! My truck is at the dealership as we speak going back to the previous software. If they can. LOL!!

Also I believe this update is for certain year vehicles as I did not see it as an option for my 2016's 1500 Vin number.

One thing I noticed: My radio would pause for a bit one or two times when I first started my truck. After the update it hasn't done it. If that's the only improvement I'm happy!!

or get nav?
