Let's say, hypothetically, a person wanted to delete their truck but wanted to be able to put it back to stock at some point in the future (to sell/trade it, for inspection, no longer using it for off-road etc). Reloading the stock tune, reinstalling the exhaust components and reconnecting all the sensors is pretty straightforward but how do you ensure that the DEF tank, pump, lines and injector remain usable after setting for a period of time. Is it going to get all crystallized and plugged up? Is there a way to clean it out?

If your DEF tank isn't used, you can drain it and fill it with distilled water. This will break down any crystals and you can drain it again to get that slurry out. I think Rislone makes a DEF cleaner you can dump into your DEF tank with DEF to help clean out the rest. I've never used it, but see good reviews on other forums. Once assembled, you can take it out on the interstate with a heavy load to give everything a workout.

How do you drain it? Do you have to remove the access panel on the bottom of the tank and remove to DEF pump?
If you have access that way, then you can do that. That would give you an opportunity to use a flashlight to inspect the interior of the tank. Otherwise, you can disconnect the filler hose from the tank and use a hand pump to drain the tank.

Right. So, if I pump all the old DEF out of the tank and refill it with distilled water or that Rislone product you mentioned - is there a way to run the pump to purge the lines and the injector?

Not sure. You may be able to, but you'll definitely get codes. I think that when most folks delete, they remove the hardware as well since the exhaust will look different without the DPF and SCR. If that's the case, you can just put the line and injector in a bucket to flush them clean, then store them for future use/protection.
