Hello, I’m new to this forum. We inherited my grandfathers 2001 Ram 2500 5.9 Cummins 6mt 4wd. It’s a base model quad cab, flame red, it’s got heated power mirrors, just about everything else manual. It has 3 keys. One is smooth with just the Dodge/Ram logo and it works everything, there’s one that’s textured with a Chrysler pentastar logo on one side and Dodge/Ram logo on the other side, it doesn’t work on anything. The last one is texture and has a Chrysler pentastar logo on both sides, it doesn’t work anything and it was in the center console, it looks brand new like it’s never been used. If anyone has any clue what these keys could go to, please let me know. He never owned or closely knew anyone that owned any other Chrysler products.

I know how to read keys and figure out the key codes. I also cut keys and can rekey the Chrysler locks. I've been doing it for for over 20 years on the neons.org forum. If you can email pics of all 3 keys to my screen name at neons.org, I can help you decipher the keys you have.

While you are sorting out the others, I would have a duplicate made of the one that works everything! Belt & Suspenders!

Not a good idea to copy a worn key. Better to figure out the code and cut the key from the code. A key cut from the code is like the key as it was from the factory.

Yup -I did that, but I had Fobs to deal with. Any key that works is better than no key. In a long life, I have yet to have a locksmith or even hardware store cut an unworkable key. Loss of the single key would create a much more expensive situation.

I replied to your email. The two keys that look the same are for another Chrysler vehicle from 1995 to 1997 and a 2001 Ram never had that series of cuts . The key that works can be cut to the key code and should work just fine.
