My window sticker shows a $500 upcharge for the 8 speed tranny that's supposed to part of the Sport package. A (silver) truck that I was buying before this one did not have that charge... What gives?

If its a V6, you can opt for the 8HP70 transmission used in V8s which is a $500 option over the standard V6 845RE. They are both 8 speeds, dunno the technical differences off hand.

For 2018's the 5.7 Hemi also adds $500 for the trans. It's just under $2,000 for it all.

Weird! The sticker on the silver '18 (the one that mysteriously got sold to someone else after I paid for it) doesn't show it. The one I ended up with does have it...

I believe the 500.00 is for a bit heavier duty trans. It is an upgrade.

My Lone Star had the same charge if I remember correctly.

The HP70 trans is standard equipment on a 2018 sport 2wd regular cab. That option charge should not be there. Tell your dealer to go on the ram build site to confirm.

It probably has to do with the customer preferred package. The silver one has the 26l and yours is the 27l so maybe the 26l includes it? Just a guess

Well,l almost there! The "L" is for the Sport model. The brochure alludes to 26L and 27L being the same. I'm sure there is a difference, but where?

26L is the sport package with 5.7 Hemi MDS, and 8hp70 trans.

27L is the sport package with 5.7 Hemi MDS, 8hp70 trans, dual rear exhaust with bright tips, and sport group.

EITHER WAY, the 5.7 Hemi MDS with 8hp70 trans is Standard equipment included in the base price, not as an option.

Good find Jimmy! I'm not sure what the "sport group" represents? The pix I saved of my silver 26L "vaporware" truck show dual chrome exhaust tips. Besides base color, the trucks appear identical on the outside...

I see the V6 models have an H45RE, and to move to a V8 it moves to a 8HP70, maybe that's the upgrade, motor and tranny cost?
That adds $500 to cost. V6 to Hemi is $1450.

Here’s the thing, though. His truck is a “sport”. The only engine and transmission available for that model is the 5.7 with 8hp70. It’s already built into the base price of that model. Being that they charged him extra for only the 8hp70 option would imply that there is a different trans that comes standard, which is not possible.

Mentioned earlier, they are discussing 2WD sports and the V8 and associated transmission is standard on that model. The 4WD Sports are different, their base seems to be the V6. When you selects the $1450 V8 option you are also forced to buy the $500 transmission option, adding up with close to $2000.

If you go to Ram Trucks, it will let you build a Sport with that tranny and V6...?
