Anyone updated their 03-05 rams to run the newer manifolds?

Pics?
Ideas ?
Who's done it and was it hard?
I have an 03 and I want to run the new accesories and intake manifold.

Wow 68 views and no opinions or input? That's crazy.

Well your post is kinda vague...what manifold and accessories specifically?

Vague, it doesn't really matter what manifold. I'll be running a car timing cover. The accessories are my issue. The Ac compressor gets moved way down, I'm assuming I'd have to get Ac lines made for the relocation. And then the alternator gets moved too. The ps pump stays about the same location. I'm just wondering if anyone has done it and what problems they ran into.

Exactly the problems you've described lol. I said vague because you didn't specify 05-08 LX, Eagle, 09+ intake manifold, 392 manifold and which accessory drive, 05-08 LX, 09+ LX/LC or 09+ Ram? Other question is why? The accessories you want to run aren't really any better than what you have, especially for the work and expense involved.

If you're just trying to run the car's 5.7L or 6.1L intake manifold then it's easier to run the spacer brackets and machined timing cover rather than swap timing cover and accessories unless you have them all sitting in your garage. For the intake manifold unless you're running Eagle heads you'll need the adapter plates to make the 6.1L, '09+ truck/car intake manifold.

Spacers and timing cover machining? Can u expand on this? Where to buy and whatnot.
And yes I'd go with the older 06 and up style 5.7 to run the 06-07 LX accessories. I get these parts all of the time. I'm just trying to figure out best option. I'm about to drop a 5.7 from an 06 charger with updated cam and springs. Just trying to get an idea of the upgrade/change after the fact.

It should be noted that the truck's intake manifold flows the best for the truck's required power band. It would really make a difference if we knew what cam you are running and we could tell you which manifold would work best. If you have the full LX cover and accessories already then go ahead with the swap but you'll need a new cold air intake, A/C lines, coolant hoses, harmonic balancer, and you should run an e-fan at that point.

Oh yeah I've seen those kits online. That's crazy money for that stuff. I'll be using the comp 268cam with the 6.1 springs and pushrods with longtube headers and a tune. I'm also running 3:92 gears. Truck should be a little beast. I'd love to get the LX 5.7 intake on it to pick it up a bit more. I can get all the accesories and timing cover cheap. The swap won't be hard I guess then. Just gotta get the Ac lines made after I'm all setup.

With a Comp 268 I really wouldn't run the LX manifold, you will have less bottom end compared to the truck's manifold and that's where you really need it to get the truck's weight going. What are your plans for a torque converter? If you decide to run a 32-3400 stall then you'll be alright with the LX manifold, you'll just have to run a higher RPM to launch it in the power band.

You'll need the car's harmonic balancer since they're different lengths, and IIRC you may need to notch the passenger side frame to clear the A/C compressor.

Not too sure on a stall just yet. That'll probably be the range I look into though. I was thinking 2500 to 2800 on he stall. Haven't really gotten all of that thought out yet. Maybe I need to look into running an updated truck manifold to not have to mess with notching the frame at all.

I appreciate all of the input by the way, this was kind of the goal of the post. To just get different points of view on everything.

268 will be tricky to tune with the 03 PCM, unless you intend to convert it...

The 03 PCM is severely limited with custom tunability, especially with a radical enough cam and there's no way to tune the transmission at all with an 03. Some use piggy back controllers, others convert to the the 05 PCM & harness.

Gotcha. Well my tuner guy doesn't seem to nor has mentioned not being able to tune the truck with that cam. So I guess I'll see. And yeah I know about the TCM tuneability. Im not worried about changing the shift points or firmess or anything like that. I like how the trans feels.

Just giving you a heads up lol...it's been proven that a 260 will run in an 03 with a Superchips tune, but of course it leaves alot on the table compared to custom tuning. Interested to see how it turns out.

Should be a pretty cool little truck. I'm gonna be using a predator tune. And my guy used to work for Diablo I believe , he helped develop some of the first srt4 neon tunes and tuned my srt4. Pretty good guy and very affordable.

Here's the little beast lol

I've already done the ignition coil conversion and installed the headers and fabbed up my exhaust. It runs great even now with just the headers and the 93 tune.

And also thanks. It gives me some questions to ask my tuner to make sure he can do it. The plan is to drop the motor in this weekend and get it going.
