usb not for music in 2013 Express (uconnect 3)?

So in my center console I have a USB and audio port. I assumed the USB could take a USB with mp3s on it and play. I put one in with some music and nothing happens. Click the media button on the radio and says no media. Is that not for file playback? Does USB need to be formatted a certain way.?

So reading the manual it is which I figured. Is there a limit on folders, files, or usb size? Trying a 64 gb and it isn't working

Yes it will have a limit and needs FAT format also. Mine is only 4GB FAT32 format and it works nicely.

I also have a usb port in my center console, I plugged in my thumb drive with all my Itunes on it, plays fine.

I too have an Express with the uConnect 3. I haven't had any problems playing anything on my 16gb iphone using the console usb port.
