I bought a pretty nice 2015 Ram 1500 Expres 4wd last fall and started gathering parts and information to replace the small uconnect radio with the larger 8.4. I have arthritis in my neck with limited ability to turn my head so this was to allow me to make better use of the backup camera. The truck already had the camera but the small screen was just not adequate. I kept searching for information and like other posters here have said, I found a lot of conflicting info out there. Kept coming back here. Finally bought the long upgrade cable from M2 mods and dove in. One piece of advice for anyone doing this is to check ALL existing features of your factory setup before tearing it out. The one I forgot to check was the USB / Aux hub in the center jump seat console. Mike was great helping me make sure all the pieces I had were compatible and everything worked after I installed the new parts and Mikes excellent cable. Only thing that doesn't work is the USB / Aux hub. Like I said, I had not tested it before so I have no idea if it was working when I started. Checked all the settings in Alphaobd and everything looks good and the heater / AC controls are working fine (one area where I have seen multiple issues complained about over the net). I do like the built in Nav and the Uconnect software on mine is the lastest version. Just have not tried upgrading the maps yet. I'll have to plug a cable directly into the head unit if I want to take that last jump. I've spent enough money on this project for now. Mikes instructions have been top notch and his responses to me have been great and a huge help - wanted to post this mainly to thank Mike for all his help and making his cable available. Probably spent an hour or so doing everything - the Alphaobd part takes the longest! A lot to dig through in that software! Thanks to this great forum and to Mike for all the information and assistance!
