V-6 Pentastar Tick Rocker Arm Problem

Truck has 120K miles and just started ticking. Pretty sucky for a truck that is driven very gently and has always had Mobil 1 Synthetic. Anyway, it sounds like the defective rocker arm tick that you can listen to on youtube. Most people just replace the one or two failed arms. I plan on replacing all of them because they are a time bomb.

Has anyone replaced the front-most rocker arms and if so, can you lift the front of the cam enough to replace the arms without disturbing the timing chains?

Malibu, I "liked" this thread not because I like the problem, but I appreciate that you posted it, thanks, I'm watching to see if more V6 folks have it (hoping not).

The noise was coming from the right head, so I ordered 12 rocker arms and figured I'd replace all while I had it apart. I found one bad rocker on the intake toward the rear of the engine. Unfortunately, without special tools, you can't replace the four front most rockers due to tension on the timing chain. Plenty of youtube vids out there.

Did it tick all the time or just when it was cold?

All of the time. It rattled upon start and I could hear it with trans in neutral while holding engine between 1,200 and 1,500 rpm. All V-6 engines will have this problem at some point. FCA claims its no longer a problem after maybe 2018 (don't quote me on the year).
