Upon purchasing these two items as well as my Moe's 85mm ported TB, will I need to let my Ecu learn again ? Meaning do I need to disconnect the battery and let it erase its current setting ?

Thank you in advance for any information, and apologies if this has already been covered.

Yes. I didn't undo the battery when I did mine and it ran like crap. Huge throttle hesitation. Undo the battery while you are installing. By the time you are done you should be good to go

Anytime you add a mod that affects airflow in or out, you want to disconnect the negative terminal for about 30 minutes to reset the computer. This simply shortens the learning curve as your truck adapts to the new mods.

When I did my muffler deletes I didn't need to unhook the battery. Thank you gentlemen for responding so kindly to my question, and not lecturing me about searching. :)

Just talked to several fellow Ram owners who have various mods done to theirs. Explained to them what I was doing and all have advised against me going with Borla. NOT because it's not a great unit as they all agree on that, it's just I'm not tuning, changing rear gears, nor racing. So what I currently have with my diesel tips is more then sufficient.

You can put on any muffler you like. Even if its just for the different exhaust note. You don't have to be racing your truck. I like the magnaflow 14" I put on. When I get on the gas I can hear I have a hemi under the hood.

Now here is where I differ as I like more of a subdued sound. Prefer not to let the neighborhood know when I am coming and going lol. :)

I'm considering a corsa catback as the drone is something i never want to deal with again. This setup is supppsed to be stock like @ idle but comes alive once you tromp on it.

No matter what aftermarket perofrmance muffler/exhaust you get it will drone. The stock muffler is not chambered and baffled and packed and weighs 600 lbs because Ram thought it would be cool to just do that..

Good rule of thumb is this, chambered mufflers are going to drone really bad, and resonator type are going to be a little less. But both will drone. Depending on the size of the muffler will help the drone (you have to find the balance), but it will never be non existent like the stock muffler. If you want to hear your motor your going to have to sacrifice something. The good news is, and I just stated this in another thread, is that you get used to it. So at the end of the day it dosnt really matter, unless your wife ******* every time shes in the truck.

My opinion and only real life experience with these trucks is the 22" magnaflow muffler, it droned, but was not bad, no one really mentioned it nor did it bother anyone on long trips. It was much louder than stock tho, and l loved the sound. MF is cheap, and its stainless, and I think sounds great - but again this is my opinion.

+1 never in my life have I owned any vehicle with an aftermarket exhaust that didn't drone at some point in the powerband!

Thats not right.. A 180* tstat will prevent the ECM from going into closed loop as the threshold I think is 185* on a factory tune (some one pipe up if this is wrong). With that said, you will get crappy performance, and fuel economy. And with in time you will throw a CEL, and will never pass a drive cycle; so once you reset your ECM (pulling the negative cable on the battery) you will not be able to pass an OBD2 emissions test for inspection.

When Sean or Jay tune these trucks they set the open/closed loop threshold if you have a cooler tstat..

yes as that was the reason why my mechanic refused to install it. I thought I read on the forum that I needed to run a 180* tstat. So you're saying with my current additions, I need a 185* one instead ? If so once confirmed, I will place that order through Moe's as usual. :)

They have a youtube vid of it & i consider it as good as borla which i had on my 13 f150 fx4 5.0 which had zero drone.
I would go with borla on the ram but the corsa is significantly less $.

So based upon my mechanic's suggestion, he is saying that I should add Magnaflow mufflers. The thing is that he really isn't a Ram guy. I saw o YouTube for a 2013 Ram 1500, they have a true dual with Flowmasters by Kinney. Its really worth checking out, and I'm going to run past my custom muffler shop, and see if they can replicate that. :)
