I want to put racing stripes on my 2020 RAM 1500. Just the front hood and down tailgate. I got a few quotes, and they range from $600 to $2000 for what I have in mind.

I was a little shocked when I priced the Vinyl (I want to get) on Amazon and even a kit (squeegee, 3M knife-less string, etc..) would cost me only $60 to $100 if I DIY.

So I wanted to get everyone's feedback or recommendation:

So..... do I DIY or just fork up the money for a "Pro" to do it?

My Concerns. I believe I could do it myself, just lots of measuring and getting it straight, etc. However, is there any special steps I am not aware of? I dont want it to bubble up or have issues. (You know, like those people that tint their own windows, and it looks terrible and gets all kinds of bubbles and other issues after some time.)

I've never done racing stripes but did put spears on my old 17 WhytRam hood. Like you said , measure, measure, measure first. Lots of Soapy water so it will move as you need it to

If you DIY them do a wet application trying to do them dry is for the pros and even they mess them up and need to start over.

Try to DIY first. Worst case, you spend $60-$100 and you don’t like the way it comes out, then you get it done professionally. I would at least try it myself to save some money.

Stripes set the vehicle off if done correctly, by that I mean look good and add an accent to the vehicle and not gawdy look'n ****.
