i am looking into buying a 2005 ram 2500 with the hemi it has 113k on it and i was wondering what i should expect with a truck with that many miles. what should i look out for, any problems i should be aware of ahead of time. any and as much info possible would be great. and im not looking to tow anything other my dirt bikes and four wheeler so not to concerned about towing capabilities. thanks..

That sounds about right...it's even less that KBB suggest in good condition... mileage makes it a little more than 16K miles a year which isnt bad either...

I have a quick question, since you're not gonna be towing much why not just go with a 1500 hemi?

The tranny is the one area on my truck that I make sure that I baby, if you get the truck make sure the first thing you do is a filter, fluid change, just to be safe.

check and smell the oil....check and smell the tranny fluid...coolant...just obvious things that you would look for in any car/truck you plan to purchase...

If I had the choice of my 1500 and a 2500 I would pick the 2500 any day...it's always better to have more than what you need rather than not...

Also check the suspension. Since it's a 4x4, there may be a thing called death wobble occurring or about to occur. Also check the dash for signs of wear and cracking as that is a problem in these trucks. Also look at the transfer case and see how it engages

what causes the death wobble and how does that get fixed? around what mileage would the wobble become more common to occur?

most common cause is a worn track bar...it can happen at any time, but if the truck is lifted then it might rush the chances of it happening....

just look for any obvious signs of wear like any other vehicle and drive it...and by drive it, I mean get it on a road where you can cruise at 55+ MPH...dont test drive it with a Sunday drive around the block.
