I have a 2012 express with the boring duals and have decided I need some new headlights. I would like a set with Halos, LEDS and projectors. I will also get some HID's from retroshop. My question is being just duals can I buy a basic aftermarket with the halo and projections and it just be plug and play? If not what adaptors will I need to make everything work.

Yes, the connections are the same, not matter if you have the duels or quads.

So if I bought some Spyders headlights they would just plug right in and work fine? The high and low beams will function properly. Just wondering since I am going from a single bulb to a dual bulb setup.

Yup,, like I said the headlight connects to one main connector and it's the same no matter what lights you have.

Man, ive been reading a bit about the headlights on these trucks. In particular the aftermarket halo spyder ones. Reading some of the amazon reviews didnt really instill confidence in me.

Find some 13+ oem projectors off of kijiji. They are obviously not junk and look really great when installed. Just did some on my 2012 SLT

Kiji no longer works properly in the USA. They changed it or something, just full of tripe and viruses.
