How many watt amp should i be looking for to run the four door speakers in my truck. They are aftermarket alpine 6x9's2 way in the front and pioneer 6"s 3 ways in the back. I know it needs to be a four channel amp, but how many watts should i be looking at to get the most bang for my buck? Thanks

well, it depends on your speakers. Need to know what they are and what what wattage (and ohms) they are rated for.

More than likely - a 50x4 RMS would be a GREAT addition to any system.

yeah and the rms watts may be different for the front and rear since they are different brands. i agree that a 50w x 4 would be nice you coud adjust the gain to match the speaker output. what HU are you running? some companies like /////Alpine make a 50w x 4 amp that is plug and play with the new decks, you dont need to run any wires just plug it in between the stereo and the car harness. they cost around 125.00

100 watt rms and 300 peak for the 6X9 by 4 ohms and the 6" being 35 watt rms EACH as well as 220 peak each at 4 ohms as well.

you may be able to get a 2 channel for the front and power the rear from the HU.

That's a weird combo 100 front and 35 rear. If you amp just the front, you'll never hear the rear.

and thats a problem?

for a proper sound stage, the majority of the sound should be coming from the front. The rears should just be used as fillers.

In all honesty, the more watts the better. As far as clarity, ts much better to have a higher rated amp that whats required and just turn the gain way down than it is to over-extend your amp (gain turned way up, using everything its got). The only disadvantage to this is cost.

It's a problem for me. I don't like noise blasting right into my ear from 12" away. I don't sit next to the speaker at home, why would I want to do that in my truck?

from my understanding in car audio you want the rear for a filler, some people dont run rear speakers at all. here is a quote from an article i have read to help me set up my stuff and save me some money by getting "cheaper" speakers in the rear. i still have type-r's but i got the coaxils and sold the components i had originally put back there. im just glad i didnt drill holes in the back like i did the front

Adjusting for rear fill
Once you have your front speakers installed to your liking, you'll want to make sure that your rear speakers are doing their part to create an ideal soundstage. While personal taste plays a role here, most experts agree that you should adjust the volume level for rear speakers so that you're barely conscious of their presence.

While your front speakers should give you the best midrange and high frequencies possible, your rear speakers can be conventional coaxials or low frequency drivers. Their purpose is to add ambiance and depth to your forward soundstage. If they reveal too much high frequency information, they'll "pull" the stereo image to the rear of your vehicle, away from where you want it.

nice deal!! since its 4 channel, i'd suggest running the rears off the head unit and bridging the amp, effectively turning it into a 100w x 2 amp which should power the front speakers.
