I have an old 12 valve CTD I bought in 1993 for $14,000. It was a year old with 15,000 Kms on it.
Over the years I had the following mechanical failures.
1) Transmission twice and was rebuilt, clutch replaced at the same time.
2) Rear differential gears replaced three times.
3) heater core replaced twice.
4) front ujoint broke when crossing a ditch hunting, managed to get out of the ditch in 2WD and go to dealer get fixed in time for evening hunt.
5) thermostatic fan clutch replaced.
6) several brake rotors, pads, and tires replaced.
7) front brake calibers replaced.
8) rusted out body repair.
8) broke the frame in two above rear axle. I was a professional pressure welder so I was able to repair it myself making the frame stronger then any factory HD truck, put on bigger springs and overloads to handle my 4,000 lbs camper that was on the truck 90% of the time and pulled a 4,000 lbs fishing boat. My fault for over loading the 3/4 ton truck by appox 2,500 lbs most of it’s life.

CDT repairs
1) valves adjusted every 300,000 Kms.
2) injections replaced at 250,000 Kms, I used howes diesel fuel additive and never had injector problems again.
3) cold start timer advance intake sensor replaced several times ($50 part that takes less then 5 minutes to replace).
4) it leaks oil at the main front seal and will leave a small oil stain after several hours where ever I park but who cares only down 1 litre of oil when time to change the oil every 10,000 Kms.

I estimate truck repair costs not including the CTD about $15,000 over the years.

CTD costs were
Injectors, valve adjustments, and the sensor replacements every 3-5 years about $1,800, the injections were the highest bill at $600.

It now has 1,130,000 Kms (706,000 miles) on it.

The Dodge truck is definitely a 1,000,000 mile motor in a 100,000 mile truck.
All the mechanical issues have been with all other parts on the truck not the CTD motor.

It a 1992 club cab 250 LE 4X4 (top of the line in its day).

Quite an accomplishment there. I don't think calling the Dodge a 100,000 mile chassis is very fair though. You admit you overloaded the truck by over a ton most of its life so in my book your rig is a frigging tank.

Any pictures?

It is a tank after I fishplated the frame with 1/2 plate steel then boxed it in with 3/8 plate steel.

I was a professional welder
